Dr. Georgios

Grab a tape measure and let’s begin:

  • Waist: Measure the waist circumference at the narrowest point, typically level with the navel, ensuring the tape is level and not compressing the skin.

  • Hip: Measure the hip circumference at the widest part of the buttocks, keeping the tape measure level and parallel to the floor.

  • Neck:

    • For men: Measure the neck circumference at the level of the thyroid cartilage (Adam’s apple).

    • For women: Wrap the tape around the neck, positioning it just below the larynx (voice box) and above the collarbone. Ensure the tape is horizontal, snug against the skin without compressing soft tissue.

Enter the numbers in the form below:

This body fat percentage calculator uses only circumference measurements to estimate body fat based on the U.S. Navy Body Fat Formula. It’s a quick and easy method, but keep in mind it’s an approximation and not as precise as methods like a DEXA body scan.

Make sure all measurements are in centimeters. To get accurate measurements for the form, you will need a flexible measuring tape. For each field, carefully read the instructions provided above it to ensure accurate measurements.

Note: This is only an estimation, and actual body fat percentage may vary depending on individual factors.
